"That's basketball. It's painful."

These types of words, uttered by simply Wesley Sneijder from the wake on the Netherlands' defeat to be able to Argentina, summed upward Oranje emotions. With the nation that developed 'Total Football',  the beautiful game was no longer so appealing.

"It is very challenging take," Sneijder added in a discussion with FIFA. "We had been so close. We all fought for it so hard. And I think we deserved a tad bit more."

As it was, having triumphed on fines in the quarter-finals, it turned out by this same cruel along with dramatic method that will Dutch dreams passed on. Sneijder, having dispatched his  spot end with aplomb in opposition to Panama and nicaragua ,, was one of many players thwarted aside Sergio Romero with Brasilia as Argentina advanced to the final. And although brave enough to handle the microphones and cameras afterwards, there were no disguising the particular midfielder's desolation.

"It will hurt [to lose using this method], notably if you are one of the players to miss," he explained from the shoot-out. " I believe there is just one team that cherished penalties  knowning that was them [Argentina]. Company, they won, therefore done well to them. All is here taking responsibility throughout those situations, as well as sometimes [in capture-outs] things  can go wrong. However My business is sad."

Through the tournament, no-one in the Netherlands side - arguably no-one out of any side - features accepted responsibility seeing that readily as Arjen Robben. And while this  irrepressible winger again efficiently converted inside the shoot-out, the disappointment was no less pronounced compared to Sneijder's.
